TESTIMONIALS

I get the gift of serving so many beautiful families around Lexington as a birth and postpartum doula. Here are some of my favorite stories from families I’ve served!

I will support you when things don’t go as planned, and be your village when you don’t have a support system nearby.

“I had not used a night nurse before and was not planning on using one this time around either. Unfortunately, my mother unexpectedly passed away when I was eight and a half months pregnant. Not only was I devastated but lost a big support system, that’s where Deb came in. Deb was a God send to myself and my family, on the nights that she was with us I was able to sleep and get really good rest. I have told many people that she absolutely kept me from losing it. Her help was so wonderful and she was such a calming presence to have in our home. I would 100% recommend her help!” -Alison

Birth can feel chaotic, especially when things change quickly and new plans have to be made. My gift is in staying calm and grounded through the waves so you can get through it all, knowing you’re supported.

“I can’t begin to explain the relief I felt from the beginning knowing I would have a calm, levelheaded person helping lead up to the birth and within the delivery room on board to support us. Deb allowed my partner to be fully present. For whatever reason having one more person with my spouse encouraging me, and who has been at many births gave me so much more confidence in what I was doing. She could tell me when I asked “is this normal?!” that indeed it was. Or calm my fears. Deb was the advocate we needed and I know I wouldn’t have been able to relax (as much as one in labor can) had it been myself and my spouse only. So grateful for my luck that our paths crossed. If I were to have another child I would seek her out again with no reservation.” -Rebecca

Part of being a doula is advocating for your peace and calm in the hospital. Courtney was grateful for this support and our seamless transition into postpartum care that supported her journey with postpartum mood disorders.

“We hired Deb as both a labor and a postpartum doula and I am so happy that we had her! She helped keep me calm and walked me through breathing and other exercises to keep my labor progressing. My husband tried to assist, but having Deb there made our labor experience so much calmer than if we were doing it with just our nurse. Our labor nurses kept coming in and asking me the same questions. I couldn’t answer as it seemed like I was always mid-contraction, so Deb stepped in as my liaison to answer their questions at my request. Having her at our labor helped transition to postpartum care seamlessly. Deb stayed with our family for about 9 months postpartum. Deb did everything related to baby care and additional tasks like cleaning and food prep. I had postpartum depression/anxiety and knowing our daughter was safe and loved when she was with Deb helped me tremendously. I hope we can hire her for our next labor and postpartum experience!” -Courtney

Postpartum is an intense time as it is, but when your baby has special needs, having support from someone who has been there before gives you peace of mind like no other.

“Deb was an absolute angel for my family. Deb was our night nurse with our sweet newborn who was born with a Cleft Palate. Deb has personal experience with children with Cleft palates and helped us navigate this issue with patience and valued advice. Not to mention, she afforded us CRITICAL rest in those early days. Deb adored our child, and I felt so at ease knowing she was there to care for her. Likewise, Deb helped with the little things like washing pump parts and folding baby clothes. Little things that make all the difference! We counted down the minutes till Deb arrived nightly, and we are so grateful for her help and care for ALL of us as we entered the world of parenthood.” -Mary Catherine

As your Doula I’m here to help you have redemptive births by support you with the education and empowerment you need to make the choices you want.

“After having a c section with my first baby I knew with my second I wanted to totally avoid any sort of intervention I could, a friend recommended hiring a doula & after much researching I found that having a doula during your birth is irreplaceable! When I met Deb in 2015 I was so excited to talk all things pregnancy and birth with her! She really became my best friend when it came to how I was feeling during my pregnancy! Little did I know how amazing she would become during my birth! When she came into the room the whole atmosphere changed for me! I felt like I had someone in my corner at all times, the way she helped me manage my laboring was amazing. She almost knew what I needed before I even asked!! My birth team was incredible: my doula my husband and my midwife. Deb helped me achieve not one, not two but THREE successful VBACS!! Which helped me heal birth trauma I had from my first baby. When I became pregnant with my fourth baby in December 2023 she was the first one I called! I’ve tried my best, but honestly it’s impossible to put into words what having Deb by my side during my pregnancies & births really means to me!” -Heather

It’s normal to be skeptical about having a doula at first, book a call so we can chat about what you need and how I can support you!

“I’ve got to be honest, I was extremely skeptical about having a doula when my wife first started talking about it. Looking back after 3 birth experiences I couldn’t have been more wrong. Deb’s wisdom and experience is priceless. The level of comfort she brings in the room is amazing. She sets a relaxed and peaceful ambience, knows what to expect, and she is a great patient advocate. When she is there I have an immense amount of freedom to leave or do whatever is needed for me to be energized and nourished and I don’t have to worry about anything in the meantime. I’ve trusted her with my whole world 3 separate times and we’ve had only 100% positive birth experiences. Trust me when I say, “the doula is worth the moola”. She even gets pics of the most memorable moments! She makes the experience way more enjoyable (even for dads). I couldn’t imagine a birth without her now.” -Johnny
